Portable Possessions Insurance

Portable possessions insurance is another category of insurance that is offered by Dial Direct. It involves all the items which we carry around with us we go about our day to day living. These items can be either on your person or in your vehicle. Should they be subject to theft or damaged in some way Dial Direct will replace them. Both you and your family members living in the same house as you will be covered.

All items of this nature that are worth more than R1750 must be specified in the policy document if it is to be covered. Items less than this amount are automatically covered. Examples of items which may need to be specified are glasses and cell phones. It is important to find out exactly which items will automatically be covered and which items need to be specified.

There are some exclusions under portable possessions insurance. Should possessions be stolen from your motor  car there must be an indication that a break in has taken place, otherwise no payment will be made. Washing that has been left out in the open will not be not covered. If items are damaged through your own negligence you will not be able to claim. Possession which will be utilised for trade or business purposes will also not be covered under portable possessions insurance cover.

An excess is applicable to the above insurance policy and it is necessary to aware of how much this is, so that you know how much you will need to pay in the event of a claim.

Living in today's world unfortunately makes us all vulnerable to the loss of our personal possessions and having adequate cover for these possessions can provide peace of mind as we go about our daily business, knowing that Dial Direct has got us covered.
