An un-roadworthy vehicle, if the vehicle is un-licenced, driving recklessly or without a licence are just some of the exclusions that you need to be aware of. In the case of these exclusions your caravan or trailer will not be covered.

Watercraft Insurance

Water-based activities are common in South Africa due to the type of climate we enjoy. These activities can involve the use of many type of water craft and Dial Direct Insurance provides comprehensive cover for these types of craft including catamarans, yachts, motor boats, dinghies, rubber ducks and jet skis provided they are used for recreational purposes.

Insurance cover applies whether the craft is on the shore or in the water. Cover is also given if the boat or watercraft is being transported, the trailer on which it may be transported must be covered separately. Equipment, fitted accessories , the motor and other machinery are also covered. Water skiers must be specifically mentioned and paid for in the policy, otherwise they will not be covered.

Should the water craft need to be salvaged or repatriated this is also included in the policy as are medical costs of up to R2000 per incident There are a number of exclusions for this type of insurance, piracy, the possessions of the people making use of the craft, if the craft is used for business purposes, if the craft is left un- attended for more than 12 hours among many others. It is necessary to be aware of these exclusions when taking out the policy.
